These are some of our past projects:

Language Nest

The Language Nest program created a language and cultural immersion environment for preschool aged children and their parents. The program helped children and families become fluent in the Hul’q’umi’num’ language.
The program encouraged and strengthened oral teachings by embracing traditional knowledge and language. The children and families worked with Elders and Hul’q’umi’num’ teachers to learn basic, daily conversational phrases through immersion teaching. They were taught the Hul’q’umi’num’ words for colours and counting, and learned language for daily routines like waking up, washing your face, brushing teeth, getting dressed and so on. Children heard stories and songs in Hul’q’umi’num’ and heard stories and played games in Hul’q’umi’num’. As part of the project, several resources were developed to support. Hul’q’umi’num’ language learning.

The website ‘iyus mumun’lh was developed to share the resources created as part of this project.
